The Meaning of Religious Values on Adolescent Mental Health in Indonesia
Abstract
This study aims to examine the meaning of religious values on adolescent mental health. Adolescents are an age group that is vulnerable to various emotional and psychological challenges. Amidst the dynamics of social change and environmental pressures, it is important to understand the factors that can affect their mental health. Religious values, such as faith, worship, and moral ethics, are believed to have a significant role in maintaining mental and emotional balance. This research uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach. This approach aims to review various scientific literatures relevant to the topic, so as to identify effectively to explore theoretical concepts, empirical findings, and gaps in the relationship between religious values and adolescents' psychological well-being. The results showed that religious values can serve as a support for mental health by providing a sense of purpose in life, reducing anxiety, and increasing emotional resilience. In addition, religiosity also helps adolescents manage stress and provides a sense of social support that comes from the religious community. Thus, religious values have positive implications in promoting adolescents' psychological well-being amidst their life challenges.
